Symphony Energy, a trailblazer in sustainable energy solutions, has won the prestigious Sustainability via Digital Technologies in Construction and Buildings Award at the 2023 SEAI Awards. The accolade acknowledges Symphony's exceptional work on the Smart Optimisation project at 1 Cumberland Place, owned by Hibernia Real Estate Group (Hibernia REG).
1 Cumberland Place, an 11,984 sq.m office building, already boasted LEED Platinum status in 2018, showcasing its commitment to energy efficiency. Symphony Energy's five-month engagement with its Smart Optimisation solution at this cutting-edge building yielded remarkable results – an outstanding 76% reduction in HVAC energy usage and a new Energy Use Intensity (EUI) of 44. This achievement not only surpasses the Paris Proof 2030 EUI target for air-conditioned office buildings but positions 1 Cumberland Place to meet its Paris Proof 2050 EUI target by replacing the current boiler with an energy-efficient heat pump.
Neil Menzies, Director of Sustainability at Hibernia REG, remarked, "Our recent partnership with Symphony has helped us achieve incredible levels of energy efficiency. We see them playing a key role in our target of becoming a net-zero carbon and climate-resilient business by 2030."
Tom Ascough, Managing Director of Symphony Energy, added, "The remarkable energy performance now exhibited by 1 Cumberland Place showcases the cutting-edge capabilities of the technology we deployed. This achievement can be replicated in a multitude of commercial buildings, marking a significant stride towards a more sustainable future."
The awards ceremony took place on November 16, 2023, at Mansion House in Dublin.
